Sunset at Mala Mala with a herd of Water Buffalo

One evening we parked our Range Rover at the edge of a herd of 300 water buffalo. As the sun set, the herd slowly walked past us -- the most dangerous animal to hunt in Africa, peacefully munching grass as they lumber along.

A Few Good Rhino Shots

Rhino are not the most photogenic of animals. They're are eating machines, grazing on grass all day and most of the night, rarely lifting their heads. These were the best shots I could get.

It's a RHINOSAUR!

Rhino's are a bit harder to find than the other big game, but we managed to track one down this evening. He was less excited about it than we were...

Leopard Tracking

We tracked a male leopard one evening for about an hour. He was a younger leopard expanding and marking his territory. He offered several roaring challenges to the older leopard in the neighborhood, but the old leopard didn't want to fight that night.

Night Drive in the African Bush

One of the most thrilling things we did at Mala Mala was take a night drive looking for animals. This evening we found a mother elephant with three babies.

Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana

After landing at the new International Airport near Mashatu, Botswana, we proceeded to another very comfortable "camp" and started our game drives.

THE BIG FIVE

At Mala Mala we managed to "Shoot the Big Five" -- the most dangerous animals in Africa to hunt - Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, Water Buffalo. We used cameras, of course.
